Sterling decides to drive forward at the heart of the Arsenal defence and it takes a sturdy tackle from Ben White to ward off the danger.
Arsenal will be satisfied with the opening half hour in spite of those City chances early on. The Ruben Dias header that dropped just wide with Ramsdale totally committed was a let-off though. Arsenal continuing to play with confidence going forward and City can’t clear their lines properly. What a contrast to the meeting between the two sides at the Etihad earlier in the season.
Nice move from Arsenal once again with Thomas Partey nutmegging Bernardo Silva in midfield and setting Martinelli free again. He bears down on goal but the angle is too tight and Ederson can block the shot at his near post.
Down the other end and Tomiyasu not too pleased as a corner is awarded. He felt De Bruyne got the final touch but it wasn’t true according to the replays. De Bruyne crosses from the short corner and Gabriel with a commanding header away.
The respite is short-lived as Raheem Sterling pings another ball into the box, Aaron Ramsdale has come out and Ruben Dias can’t quite get the direction on his glancing header. Just wide and he has to score really.
