This is a dangerous game Real are playing. They are in so much control of the game, they’ve dropped their intensity. CROSS! Young sends another good ball into the middle which Lukaku goes up for but Courtois scoops it clear.
PENALTY APPEAL…NOT GIVEN! Inter get up the pitch and Hakimi wins his team a free-kick down the left. Young whips it in and De Vrij screams as he tussles and hits the deck with Nacho. It did look a tad dramatic on first viewing and VAR agrees, feeling no foul was missed.
Real Madrid needed a performance and they’ve delivered in what has been a classy first half showing. Anthony Taylor has played a big part in it. He correctly awarded a penalty for a foul on Nacho which was dispatched by Hazard for his first Champions League goal for Madrid before Taylor then brandished two yellow cards within seconds to dismiss Vidal, who was furious when he felt he was fouled in the box.
The lack of discipline was pretty astounding for a man making his 100th appearance in European competition. Vidal showed his frustration on an advertising board as he walked down the tunnel. He’s completely let his team down here. Inter have a mountain to climb.
Vidal has taken about three minutes to leave the field. What a terrible example he’s setting.
He’s completely lost his head. The incident was correctly called by Taylor and Vidal’s reaction to very aggressively protest in his face was worthy of two yellow cards.
