Juventus face one of the biggest challenges of their young season when they travel to the nation’s capital to take on Lazio in Sunday’s early game.
Speaking to the media in his pre-match press conference, coach Andrea Pirlo said he is looking forward to the challenge.
If anything, we can say that Juventus is already ahead of the game when it comes to comparing the final fixture before this upcoming international break to the last one. That is, you know, Juventus will actually play this game before the next international break even though their opponent is dealing with a handful of COVID-19 cases as compared to the last one.
What was looked as the showdown between two Scudetto contenders about 11 months ago is now a team trying to get back on track and the defending Italian champions still trying to fully establish its new identity under its brand new coach. Juventus has won its last two games and has looked rather OK while doing it. What’s in store for this lunchtime kickoff in Italy? Well, that’s a big uncertainty seeing as what the current opposition is dealing with.
Alvaro Morata has been excellent since his return, and has been banging in the goals for the Bianconeri.
“I always knew Morata was a complete player and not just in his finishing, so what he’s done in recent matches is not a surprise. He is always involved in the play and have always looked to him.
“What I would like to see is a team with more confidence and that is dominating the match. That could be a big step forward to take.”
