Manchester United have not ruled out Harry Maguire of the Europa League final and will decide on their team on the day of the game.
Maguire has not played since sustaining ankle ligament damage against Aston Villa on May 9 and was on crutches as recently as last week.
England coach Gareth Southgate named Maguire in his provisional 33-man squad for the European Championship but that will be cut to 26 players next Tuesday.
Solskjaer sometimes names his team on the day of a game, depending on injury issues, and is going to give Maguire as long as possible to prove he is match-fit.
“We’ve prepared well,” Solskjaer said. “Anthony didn’t make it, Phil didn’t make it and Harry’s going to jog up and down the sideline a bit, I reckon, and he’ll probably try to join in (for the last training session).
“It’s always difficult to leave players out throughout the whole season. A final is a reward for what you’ve done the whole season and then if there’s a doubt between a couple it’s form in the latter stages.
“We’ll enjoy the last session and the players will get the team tomorrow.”
Luke Shaw, who sat in on the pre-match press conference with Solskjaer, said of Maguire: “Obviously Harry is here. We’ve still got another session so we’ll see how he is but not too sure yet.
“So we’re hoping he can be available but the main focus is the players that are out there fit to enjoy the session today and enjoy the game tomorrow.”
United are favourites but have drawn all four of their European ties with Villarreal 0-0 and come up against a Europa League specialist in Unai Emery.
Emery won the competition four times with Sevilla and inflicted a first Premier League defeat on Solskjaer as United manager.
“Every player who goes into a final has the expectation and pressure to win,” Solskjaer added. “We prepare to win, we plan to win, we expect to win, but I’m sure Unai feels the same with his team and his players.
“It’s been a long qualification to get there and it’s 50-50 when you get to a final. I’m confident, we’re ready for this. In a final, anything can happen. You can concede a goal in the first minute, injury, get sent off, anything can happen. That’s the thing with a final.”
