Real Madrid Offer 2-Year Contract To Midfielder Amid Exit Links

Real Madrid News

SPORT claims that Real Madrid has changed its mind about keeping star midfielder at the club and will give him a new two-year contract.

In the summer of 2017, Ceballos switched from his childhood team Real Betis to Real Madrid. The 25-year-old, however, found it difficult in his first two years at the Santiago Bernabeu to gain a spot in the starting XI. He was therefore transferred on loan to Arsenal in 2019 where he spent two years before moving back to Madrid last year.

Ceballos was anticipated to leave Real Madrid after his comeback, but an injury sustained at the Tokyo Olympics prevented it. After completely recuperating from his injury, the midfielder chose to remain where he was and participated in a few games before the conclusion of the season.

Even though Ceballos did not have a significant impact, Real Madrid thought about keeping him at the team because of his talent. However, Aurelien Tchouameni’s presence raised more questions about his future, and a departure has since been discussed.

Relocating back to Real Betis has been discussed, and AC Milan has expressed interest. The midfielder, who has remained tight-lipped about his future, recently asserted that he will speak with Carlo Ancelotti before making a decision about his future.

Ancelotti has already praised Ceballos, and it appears that Real Madrid has now chosen to extend his contract by another two years. The 25-year-current old’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2023, but the new extension would keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu through the end of 2025.

Regular game time for Ceballos may be difficult to come by given that Ancelotti has access to players like Luka Modric, Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Eduardo Camavinga, Federico Valverde, and Tchouameni. Therefore, it is now up to the midfielder to decide whether he signs a new contract and stays at Real Madrid or opts to go for a new challenge elsewhere.
