Liverpool have announced the latest team news before of tonight’s FA Cup meeting with Norwich City, which is a setback for Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp has been without star players Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino in recent weeks due to injuries sustained after Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League victory against Inter Milan.
Thiago Alcantara, who picked up a hamstring injury in the pre-Chelsea warm-up, was forced to miss the crucial match as the Reds won their eighth Carabao Cup.
Klopp will ‘certainly’ be without the Spaniard tonight, according to an update.
Indeed, as relayed by Liverpool’s official site, the Reds are certain to miss Thiago at Anfield but Klopp insists there will also be changes made anyway.
“We will play a side we have faced already and had some problems. We have to make changes because we played 120 minutes, so we will see who will do that better,” he explained.
When he’s been available, the 30-year-old has been fantastic in midfield alongside Fabinho, with Liverpool yet to lose a game when they’re starting together.
News of his absence will be unwelcomed ahead of the Reds’ crucial FA Cup tie, and it remains to be seen who can replace the vacuum left by his presence.
In an interview with Football Insider, pundit Danny Mills characterised the ex-Bayern Munich star as a “big part of Liverpool,” and it’s safe to say he’ll be missed against Norwich.
