The Manchester United forward is thought to be keen on leaving Old Trafford, and while Chelsea are yet to make an official proposal for the player, Romano has told GIVEMESPORT that Boehly and Mendes have held discussions.
On Saturday, The Times reported that Ronaldo has asked United to allow him to depart if a satisfactory offer arrives.
The above comes after The Athletic also claimed that Boehly and Mendes, who represents the Portugal international, had met and discussed the idea of a switch to west London this transfer window.
Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly and super-agent Jorge Mendes have definitely spoken about the possibility of Cristiano Ronaldo moving to Stamford Bridge this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly made the decision to request a transfer because he wants to keep playing in the Champions League. Erik ten Hag’s team, who finished sixth last season, will compete in the Europa League this year.
Ronaldo had a great season in 2021/22, scoring 24 goals in 38 games as United suffered.
What has Romano said about Ronaldo to Chelsea?
Chelsea are yet to make any sort of offer for Ronaldo, but Romano thinks they could become a suitor following those talks between Boehly and Mendes.
When asked by GMS on Sunday which teams could actually try and sign the former Juventus and Real Madrid star this summer, the transfer expert said: “At the moment, I would mention Chelsea because it’s true Jorge Mendes had contact with Todd Boehly and we know Todd is taking care directly of all the transfers for Chelsea, so they’ve been offered this possibility to discuss about Cristiano.
“But Chelsea have not followed up with a proposal or something like this for Cristiano Ronaldo.”
