Erik ten Hag has berated his Manchester United squad following their 4-0 defeat away to Brentford.
United completely capitulated in an abysmal first-half performance riddled with individual and team errors, conceding three times inside half an hour.
A fourth goal went in after just 35 minutes with the Red Devils all at sea, in what was a miserable afternoon that didn’t pick up in the second half.
The Red Devils again looked uncomfortable on the pitch as they tried to implement Ten Hag’s tactical approach in building out from the back.
David de Gea failed to save a tame shot from Josh Dasilva when United were caught on the ball after 10 minutes, giving Brentford a 1-0 lead.
From that, Ten Hag’s side’s heads completely dropped and Brentford ramped up the pressure. De Gea was caught on the ball again eight minutes later when he tried to play a short pass, but it was intercepted and fired into the back of the net by Mathias Jensen.
Brentford added their third from a corner after half an hour. United were again unorganised and by this point zapped of confidence, as Ben Mee dominated Lisandro Martinez to head in from a corner. Bryan Mbeumo then made it four with United hopelessly caught out on the counter.
Ten Hag pulled no punches speaking to beIN SPORTS after the humiliating affair, delivering a scathing assessment of the game. Be sure to watch the video below.
