Chelsea have made an offer to sign Juventus defender, according to Sky in Italy.
The Blues are keen to add a couple of new centre-backs to the ranks this summer after losing both Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger, and it appears they are deadly serious about trying to sign De Ligt.
The Dutch international is subject of Premier League interest as his contract saga at the Serie A club continues. There has been a lot of talk over whether he will sign an extension there, or make a move away this summer, and Chelsea are trying to take advantage on that.
More so the fact that they have tested the waters now with an offer to Juventus that includes striker Timo Werner going the other way as part of the deal.
Chelsea are willing to pay €45m (£38m) plus Timo Werner for De Ligt, per the report. However, the defender has a £103m (€120m) release clause in his Juventus contract, which is due to expire in 2024, and the club will only entertain offers close to that mark.
