Arsenal are keep to sign £54M rated striker in summer transfer window

Mikel Arteta

The Gunners will need at least one, if not two, new strikers this summer. Last month, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club, while Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are due to leave as free agents at the conclusion of the season.

In January, Dusan Vlahovic was linked with a move to Arsenal, but the Serbian ended up at Juventus. Another player rumoured to be on Arsenal’s radar is Alexander Isak, but he appears to be on his way to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

As a result, Arsenal has been forced to look elsewhere, with Nunez being mentioned as a possible replacement.

Calcio Mercato revealed yesterday that Arsenal are keen to sign Benfica star Darwin Nunez.

Nunez has been linked with a move to the Premier League for almost 18 months, with Jorge Jesus describing him as a ‘world-class’ player in the making. A lot of big clubs have been linked with him, and Arsenal are reportedly seeking to bring him in.

The 22-year-old has been outstanding for Benfica this season. He has 25 goals in 30 games this season, and if he keeps it up, he might conclude the season with around 40 strikes.

Arsenal’s current transfer approach is to sign young, skilled players with a lot of promise. Arteta and Edu don’t mind if they’re expensive – as we saw with Ben White over the summer – and Nunez checks most of the boxes.
