A promising teenager, Cristiano Ronaldo created history when he signed for Manchester United for a record fee then. A pre-season encounter between the Red Devils and Sporting convinced the manager Sir Alex Ferguson and United hierarchy to splash cash for the Portuguese.
In his six year spell at Old Trafford, the Portuguese won numerous trophies including the Premier league and a Champions League in 2008. After he won Ballon d’Or at United, Spanish giants Real Madrid came knocking at the door.
With 118 goals in 292 games for the Red Devils, the Portuguese established himself as a legend at Old Trafford before making a record 80m move to Los Blancos.
The Portuguese finished his Real Madrid career with four Champions League and four Ballon d’Or trophies in nine long years. With 450 goals in 438 games Cristiano became the greatest Real Madrid goalscorer and one of the if not the greatest Madrid legend.
